It is so special to be able to capture each chapter of a couple’s journey – and it has been such a beautiful thing to capture Lisa and John’s journey into parenthood as a Royal Oak newborn photographer.
Sweet Maya has just the best parents and family to love her as Lisa and John are two of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. I loved her nursery and its space themes – you don’t often see that for girls and I loved it! We had to make sure to get a few with beloved dog Piper – I always like to try and include your dog if you’re up for it!
I really like to stress that your home doesn’t have to be perfection to do an in-home newborn session. It’s more about feeling relaxed and photographing your family where you’re comfortable and where you’re making all of these memories.

I’m fairly confident that no matter your home, whether you have a nursery or you don’t, that we can get great newborn photos. But it always does help when you get to work with a beautiful home and a beautiful family, like this Grosse Pointe newborn session. It was so lovely to meet little George and his parents last fall in their beautiful Grosse Pointe home with some great mid-century decor vibes.
George was not the happiest camper during our session, but you can’t tell from the photos we got! He was a happy boy once we got him wrapped up and even gave us a little smile. As the mother of a former cranky baby, I’ve got all the tools in my toolbox for calming babies. Myles was a colicky little guy so I know the tricks.

As a Troy Michigan newborn photographer, I truly love watching my wedding clients grow their families and feel so honored when they ask me to document new chapters of their family story. Shelley and Dominic were some of my first wedding clients way back in 2017. They welcomed baby Aubrey a few months after Myles joined our family.
Aubrey was such a sweet newborn – so tiny! I loved the nursery they put together for her. It had absolutely beautiful light and furnishings. I love being able to use the space parents have so lovingly prepared for their baby – though nurseries aren’t required for at-home newborn sessions. This Troy Michigan newborn photographer will make just about anything work – we just need a window and some tidy space.
Big sister Bananas was very watchful of her little sister, making sure I handled her with care. I know Shelley and Dominic are amazing parents; you can see the pride and excitement on their faces.
