I love photographing my wedding couples when they become parents as a Livonia newborn photographer. Peter’s parents were a 2019 wedding couple of mine and I was so honored to be asked to take his newborn photos.
Peter joins big sister Lucy, who was very protective of her little brother while I was around. She jumped into a few photos too. I loved photographing this new family under their wedding photos which I took! Full circle.
Sarah and Kyle did an amazing job on Peter’s nursery – you can tell the care and thought they put into it.
The funniest part of this session was as soon as I got Peter all wrapped up, he pooped. We had to do it again haha! He was so calm and good though, a sweetheart.
I’m so lucky to work with clients over and over again! I’m always honored to capture each new chapter – this time as a metro Detroit newborn photographer! Amber and Ben first stepped in front of my camera in December 2018 for their engagement session and I’ve been lucky enough to photograph their wedding and now baby Rowan’s arrival at their home last October!
My approach as a Metro Detroit newborn photographer is to make newborn photos as relaxing of an experience as possible. Now that I’ve had my first baby, I can tell you that I absolutely couldn’t have created the best photographs of my family in the weeks post-birth. I left it to another professional pal to do it for us and I’m so glad I did!
Babies change so quickly. I never really believed this until I had my own. From fresh newborn, they look so different at even 8 weeks old! It’s crazy how quickly that time goes and how soon your baby doesn’t look little anymore.
Rowan’s momma has great taste – here’s her wedding in case you’re wondering – and their home was a perfect setting. Rowan wasn’t the happiest of campers but you can’t tell, can you? This is why I leave 2 hours for newborn sessions – plenty of time for feeds and soothing which all newborns need – they aren’t on a schedule! Big sister Rory was a great help and I know she has been the best big sister as Rowan has grown; he’s nearing 10 months old now!
In 2020, this Royal Oak newborn photographer photographed so many baby boys, so being able to meet this baby girl, Maeve, was so sweet! All newborn babies are lovely, but it was a nice change of pace to photograph a baby girl with a soft nursery and headbands!
I know these two sisters will be great pals – they really do remind me so much of me and my younger sister (down to the hair color and age difference)! No stranger to the camera, Rowan was able to show me around and keep me busy while Maeve took some feeding breaks.
In home newborn sessions are some of my favorite sessions. Even when the family is adjusting to a new member and everything seems chaotic, there’s always sweet moments in between. I try to capture those and keep it as relaxed as possible. I leave us plenty of time because babies (and toddlers, let’s be real) are unpredictable!
With the arrival of baby Kendall, this beautiful family has two beautiful girls! Before COVID took off in mid-March, this Birmingham newborn photographer was able to spend a Sunday morning with a sleeping Kendall, big sister Aubrey, mom, and dad in their beautiful home, which was picture perfect in every way!
Not only did Kendall sleep basically the whole time (which was new for me, as my newborns usually love to be wide awake), but Aubrey was simply adorable and a wonderful big sister. I know these two are going to have so many adventures and memories. Their age gap is close to me and my sister’s and I love having a sister!
