I’ll let you in on a secret – the best time for a fall Stony Creek maternity session is usually the first week of November. This was definitely the case for Ashley and Ryan – they got the most gorgeous time of the fall for their Stony Creek maternity session.
They brought along their pup so we decided to take to some of the less traversed areas of the park, which I always appreciate in the fall. They trusted me and I just adore how this session came out. Ashley is the cutest pregnant person ever geez!
I love the color Ashley chose to wear for this fall Stony Creek maternity session. It’s the perfect color for fall! I usually prefer longer dresses for maternity sessions. I think there’s something lovely about the movement of this one. It’s from Pink Blush Maternity!
There’s no bad season for maternity sessions. I recommend scheduling your session between 32-36 weeks for optimal comfort and look – as well as to avoid pre-term labor!

It is so special to be able to capture each chapter of a couple’s journey – and it has been such a beautiful thing to capture Lisa and John’s journey into parenthood as a Royal Oak newborn photographer.
Sweet Maya has just the best parents and family to love her as Lisa and John are two of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. I loved her nursery and its space themes – you don’t often see that for girls and I loved it! We had to make sure to get a few with beloved dog Piper – I always like to try and include your dog if you’re up for it!
I really like to stress that your home doesn’t have to be perfection to do an in-home newborn session. It’s more about feeling relaxed and photographing your family where you’re comfortable and where you’re making all of these memories.

Kristina and Andrew were so much fun to be with at their engagement session. I thought they pulled off the sophisticated, timeless look that the Detroit Institute of Arts needs perfectly. We ended at Parker’s Alley with some more casual photos. I totally recommend doing something similar for your own engagement session – having both vibes (if you’re into it!) can be a good way to get a variety of photos that feel slightly different. Sarah and Michael’s Indianwood Golf Club wedding was just the most perfect day for the nicest couple. These two are truly genuinely the sweetest, both to each other and to me! Their wedding day at Indianwood Golf Club was truly magical.
We started the day with getting ready photos at the venue. The guys were downstairs and the ladies were upstairs. I know getting ready photos aren’t for everyone, but I think they add context to the day in telling the story of the day. I really love the photos of Sarah and her mom and sister in the getting ready space.
Getting married in a church was important to these two and they ended up using the space at St. Paul Community Lutheran Church in Pontiac. Before the ceremony, they did a first touch moment around a door. They had written letters to each other and read them privately. I really recommend including moments like this in your day if you can – it just makes it all the more special.
After a beautiful ceremony – yay they’re married – we did a few portraits at the church before heading back to Indianwood Golf Club for the majority of the portraits. This wedding party was super kind and cooperative – which is always appreciated when the timeline is a little tight!
We got the MOST amazing sunset for this Indianwood Golf Club wedding. I don’t know what it is about golf clubs but they usually have the most amazing spots for sunset photos. Indianwood was no different! I loved the quick sunset session we got in. There’s never any pressure from me to do sunset photos, but I do think it’s nice to step out for a hot second and just take a break together.
My favorite part of the reception was the Greek and Polish dancing that happened right before I left, honoring both Mike and Sarah’s heritage. Seeing their friends and family join in was super fun! I am Polish and I wish I could polka like Sarah and her mom!

Last September, I had the most perfect golden hour Stony Creek Metropark engagement session with Kylie and Jared – and their pup Brody!
I always encourage couples to bring their pups (if they wish) because they’re family. I know that when we got engagement – and wedding – photos, I really regretted not including our dog Nora. I know it can be super stressful to bring a fury friend, but I promise I’ll send you some great tips to make it a successful session. There hasn’t been a dog I haven’t gotten to cooperate for a few images.
Stony Creek Metropark is popular – for a reason! And I think once you scroll through these engagement photos, you’ll see why: literally the most perfect golden hour.

Kylie and Jared met through mutual friends at a “Beer Olympics.” Sounds fun right? Jared offered Kylie some water and the rest is history. These foodies enjoy walking Brody, traveling, and spending time on the water. Their August 2022 wedding is going to be so much fun – I can’t wait to shoot their wedding!
